BMX Private Lessons

How do lessons work? When are they?
You will personally schedule a 1 hour 1 on 1 lesson with one of the top BMX riders in the Twin Cities to be your instructor. Our schedules are flexible, weekdays, weekends, days/evenings, etc. Please arrive 5 – 10 minutes early to check in.

Where are the lessons?
All lessons are located at our main 3rd Lair Skate Park location in Golden Valley, MN. In the summer, we also run the Overpass Skate Park in Hopkins, MN which features many more bike intended ramps where we prefer to do BMX lessons.

Who are your instructors and what can they teach me?
Our instructors are some of the talented riders you see every year during our shows at the MN State Fair. The exact same riders you see doing tailwhips, flips, 720′s, etc. They can teach you anything from the basics of rolling down a ramp for your first time, to learning tricks like grinding or 360′s. This all depends on the amount of practice you put into it and the rate you progress.

How old do I have to be? What if I have never ridden a BMX bike before?
You can be any age! We have taught people who have never even ridden a BMX before who can now roll in on nearly every ramp at the skate park.

Do I need my own bike?
Yes you will need your own bike. You can take turns with your instructors bike, however you will learn much faster on your own bike that you are comfortable with.

Do I need my own helmet and pads?
No, all of our lessons come with free pad rental.

How much do lessons cost? Can I buy a package of lessons?
$40.00 per person per hour, or $120.00 for a package of 4 lessons. All payments must be made at the beginning of the first lesson including lesson packages as well as signing a waiver (with legal parent if under 18). These can then be used once per week, or more or less depending on how you schedule them with your instructor.

Can I ride before and/or after my lesson?
Yes one free session before and/or after your lesson(s) are included.

How can I set up my lesson?
Please email info@3rdlairbmx.com to schedule a time that works for both you and your instructor.

What if I am looking for bigger bike ramps? Like box jump foam pits and resi landings?
We work closely with all of the BMX guys at the Twin Cities Fantasy Factory who have all of that fun stuff, check our their site for more information on their BMX program. http://ridetcff.org
